Toward direct engagement with the Qur'an

Themes

Gateways from a life theme to the places in the Qur'an where its vocabulary works hardest. Pick a theme; get its root families, the computed key passages, and a self-study kit.

~ These gateways are lexical. Each theme collects triliteral roots whose core dictionary senses relate to it, and the key passages are verses where that vocabulary clusters (two or more of the theme's roots, or repeated tokens of one, per the Leeds corpus). A theme can also live in verses that use none of these words, and a word can appear outside the theme. Treat every gateway as a starting point for your own reading, never as a complete index.
