Divine Discourses

Toward direct engagement with the Qur'an

Sources

Every dataset, translation, scholarly work, and tool that Divine Discourses draws on, with license and verification status.

Entries follow the Chicago Manual of Style, bibliography form. Where a detail (edition, place, or year) could not be confirmed against the work itself, it is omitted rather than guessed. Translations rendered on the Read page are served through the alquran.cloud API; the print editions cited are the originals of those renderings.

Khan's works and lineage

Dr. Irfan Ahmad Khan (1931–2018) directed the Association of Quranic Understanding and is the principal influence behind this site. His two English-language works are listed below.

Recommended reading from the Association of Quranic Understanding

These are works Dr. Khan commended to readers through the Association of Quranic Understanding, the organization he directed. The full list is published at quranicunderstanding.com/quranic-resources. Inclusion below means the work appears on AQU's curated bibliography; it does not mean the Divine Discourses site uses it as a data source.

Citation badge component

Every statistic on this site carries one of three claim badges:

The badge component is implemented in assets/cite-badge.js (plain vanilla JS, no dependencies). Add <script src="assets/cite-badge.js"></script> to any page and badges with data-source-ids attributes will show click-to-expand citation popovers sourced from data/sources.json.
